Duck Soup, North Lake College’s magazine of creative expression began publishing in 1979. It has won numerous First Place and Sweepstakes awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, and the Texas Community College Journalism Association.
The annual magazine is open to all North Lake College students and contains essays, poetry, short stories, artwork and photography.
The beauty of the magazine is the collaborative efforts of many – English, art, photography, creative writing faculty, and journalism and non-journalism students – who work together to make Duck Soup an award-winning publication. As you flip through each page, look at how the pieces of art and photography compliment each story’s and poem’s subject matter.
